WfAHL SLEs December 2017

November 27, 2017

Dear Network member

I want to draw your attention to the two forthcoming Shared Learning Events (SLEs) which we are putting on with the help of Hub Cymru Africa (Beth Kidd)

The first one is on the 29th November between 10am-3pm in Cardiff at the University Hospital Wales, Heath Park. The event is free admission and the focus is on

'Bringing the Learning Home'

There will be presentations by Professor Judith Hall on the Cardiff University Phoenix project based in Namibia and also Professor Alison Fiander will talk about the Safe Choices Programme being led by the Royal College of Obs & Gynae.

During the day there will be opportunities for a number of our local health links to report back on progress with their work and lessons learnt.

Andrew Jones of the Tropical Health Education Trust (THET) based in London will also report back on their work in supporting health partnerships internationally and the good news that DFID has agreed to fund a new round of Health Partnership grants.

The SLE will be held in

Seminar Room 3.19 (A) on the 3rd Floor of the Ty Dewi Sant building, University Hospital Wales, Heath Park, Cardiff CF14 4XN

The Wales for Africa Health Links Network Trustees will have their Board meeting directly after the SLE.

The other SLE is being held in Swansea on December 11th

The title of this event is

"Mutual Learning between Health and Education"

There will be presentations about the Swansea/Gambia link and other links based in Swansea University as well as a presentation about the new link with the Welsh Deanery to assist medical placements in Sub Saharan Africa.

Local health links such as Interburns, FLOW (Care for Uganda), Giaconda and Umoyo will also share their experience in developing health links.

The SLE will be held in the Grove Seminar Room 3, Swansea Medical School, SA2 8PP.

Further details of both these SLEs can be obtained from the WFAHLN website (www.wfahln.org) and the Hub Cymru website (www.hubcymru.org).

Bookings and further details of the events will also be accessible via Eventbrite website which should be used to register for these 'free' events.
