Dr Paul Myres

Paul is a retired GP who has also worked in primary care development at a national level. 

 

He has worked for short periods in Namibia, Somaliland and Lesotho and has visited other countries in southern and Eastern Africa.

 

He was lead for health matters in Dolen Cymru for three years before becoming Chair of Trustees at Dolen Cymru Lesotho.

 

He has an interest in person centred care and mental health and was clinical lead for the Wales health programme in Shared Decision Making and Choosing Wisely called Making Choices Together.

 

He has been Chair of both the Royal College of GPs in Wales and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges in Wales. He has taught sessions on mental health at the Family Medicine Specialty Training Programme in Leribe, Lesotho and is a founding member of a new charity aiming to support training and delivery of palliative care in Lesotho called Starlight Oasis of Hope Hospice.

 

He enjoys walking and hopes to complete walking the Wales Coastal Path and Offa’s Dyke by 2022.
